One of these 5-star reviews could easily have been mine about five years ago. I was over the top about them at first, but am feeling a bit different about SCANPAN these days, and I'm also in the process of replacing my entire collection for which I paid more than I care to admit.
Reading through the Amazon reviews (back then in March 2004) and reviews elsewhere, I was convinced I would be investing in the best cookware on the planet, and it would serve me the rest of my days with its lifetime warranty. At first it performed well, despite the limited size assortment of sauce pans in the titanium Classic line ... the largest being the 3-quart size, which is barely big enough to boil enough spuds for two servings of mashed potatoes. But the pans distributed the heat very well, and food didn't stick to the nonstick surface.
Though I knew I could, I never put them in the dishwasher and, as is my style, I took very good care of the cookware. Living alone, I would describe my use of the cookware as "light" ... I was the only one who ever cooked on them. Even with the surface rated tough enough for metal utensils, I never used anything but nylon or wooden spatulas, spoons, etc. I also never used PAM on the surface. I pampered this cookware.
The covered sauté pan that I used most often was the first to show signs of discoloration on the cooking surface, along with a mass of little bubbles. Some of the bubbles lost their tops, others didn't. This started within 12-15 months of being new. Slowly this worsened and the cooking surface took on an unsightly dull gold/orange hue. Though disappointing I could have lived with discoloration, but within two years food was starting to stick to the surface. REALLY STICK.
A few pieces in the collection still look like new, but only because they're used less frequently/rarely. The two pots I've used the most are not as discolored as the sauté pan, but are bubbled, spotted and scuffed/nicked. The sauté pan is now officially "toast," and I tossed it out today. I'd consider sending the pans back for warranty replacement if it was an isolated defect, but it isn't, clearly all the pots/pans are headed in the same direction ... south. The so-called titanium nonstick surface simply doesn't last. Negative consumer reports about Scanpan are available in abundance on the Internet and should be read before anyone invests too much money in this inferior cookware. Caveat emptor.

Alpha Heavy Gage 12 QT Stainless Steel Stock Pot with Glass Lid Review

Alpha Heavy Gage 12 QT Stainless Steel Stock Pot with Glass Lid

Contrary to the ad copy on this site AND on the packaging for this pot, it DOES NOT WORK ON INDUCTION STOVES. A magnet will not stick to its (presumably aluminum-clad) bottom. I bought this pot for our induction stove, tried it (unsuccessfully), and immediately sent it back.
If you're not concerned about using it on induction stoves, then the pot seemed fine--but I didn't appreciate the false advertising.

The first time I used this pan (to hard boil eggs), I rinsed it and placed it upside down on a counter to drain. When I picked it up the next morning the rim had rusted and left a large stain on the counter. So much for stainless steel.

Ordered 6-27-09, received 7-6-09 in excellent condition. I purchased it because there are no plastic handles. I can put it in the oven where I can control the temperature more precisely. The exterior is polished to a mirror finish. Excellent product.

get the one with the wooden base instead - you'll be happier with the overall presentation and style. Good quality pot , but the base could be sturdier.

This product is good if you are looking for a cooker with a stainless steel liner. For health reasons I thought stainless may be a better choice. Almost all brand use a non-stick liner. It has a few drawbacks in my opinion compared to the 6 quart Elite Electric pressure cooker, which is a non-stick. I own and use both of them. They are both super quite and and program features seem to work well. Everything I have made in both pots has come out as expected. A drawback for me with the Instant Pot is that the lid must be removed every time you open pot. I like that the Elite stays attached until I wish to remove it, so I can open and close it repeatedly for multiple servings. Be careful of the escaping steam. The program buttons are comparable to the Elite. The Instant Pot has a slow cooker button. Both lack greatly in what they call a recipe book. So lacking in fact, that it leaves me searching online for recipes to try. Now, the biggest drawback in my opinion is that the Instant Pot lacks the ability to brown in the cooker. The Elite has this wonderful option. With the Instant Pot you will have to brown your food on the stove top in another pan and then move it to the cooker. I tried browning in the liner on the stove. This did not work at all well. This browning feature on the Elite also makes it so much easier to thicken foods at the end of the cooking cycle by simply pressing the start button. You will get a nice heat up to make a gravy or just thicken a soup or stew. So, if you are not concerned about which liner to use, I think the Elite wins the prize here, but the Instant Pot is certainly comparable. While lacking the browning feature it is still a good choice if you want the stainless steel liner. Wonderful convenience in a busy kitchen.

Tagine - Slaoui Small Review

This tangine can not hold even two chicken breasts plus other ingredients to make a typical tangine. I was extremely disappointed with this purchase and don't recommend it to anyone, unless you want to use it for a single serving cookware piece.
